Sharing insights on ultrasonic process monitoring in 3D printing

At this year’s 3D printing forum “Forum 3D-Druck 2025” in Mittweida, Germany, our colleague Johannes Zawatzki presented exciting results from the research project “AddiQ”.

As subproject leader, he spoke about the monitoring of Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) processes using ultrasound – a promising approach to ensure process stability and high part quality in additive manufacturing.

By integrating ultrasonic sensors directly into the 3D printing process, even the smallest irregularities can be detected in real time – paving the way for better quality assurance and fewer production errors.

A big thank you to the organizers at Mittweida University for hosting such a great platform for innovation and exchange in the field of additive manufacturing!
